History & General Information

Old Colony Trade & Technical School purchased the Old Colony Trade School in January 1996 and has enhanced training while assuming responsibilities of the former ownership.

The Old Colony Trade School was founded and has been in existence since 1957. During this time, the school has been responsible for helping students pass the Master and Journeyman Plumbing Code examinations in Massachusetts.

The Old Colony Trade & Technical School is licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Education.

All school hours acquired at Old Colony Trade and Technical School are accredited and accepted by the Board of Examiners of Plumbers and Gasfitters of Massachusetts towards the 300 hour education requirement for the Journeyman Pluming and Gas Fitting code examination and the Master Plumbing and Gas Fitting code examination and the Master Plumbing and Gasfitting code 100 hour education requirement for licensure.

In 1989, Old Colony Trade School added Domestic Air Conditioning and Oil, Gas Burner Technology courses to meet the demand for qualified technicians in these fields. Also, an Apprentice Plumbing Course was initiated in 1993 in order to meet the needs of the plumbing trade.

The Old Colony Trade & Technical School is a co-educational technical school committed to training students with a comprehensive course in Oil/Gas Burner Technology, Air Conditioning/ Refrigeration, Apprentice Plumbing and Journeyman/ Master Plumbing state license code courses. The right combination of "Hands On" training and classroom theory under the supervision of our field experienced instructors has proven effective in preparing our graduates with marketable job skills for the 1990's. The Old Colony Trade & Technical School is dedicated to providing training to meet the demands of the job market with qualified entry level graduates.

Educational Facilities

The school building has approximately 5,000 square feet of classroom and shop area. The size of each class is normally 12 students.
